Budapest/An exercise in disappearing
|
Two young men left their hometown Ghent and headed for Budapest to live for one month in the Hungarian capital. No extra clothes, no money. Every day they had to find a way to get food, where to sleep, ... In a creative manner they had to deal with hunger, desire, boredom, frustration and tensions.
When leaving, they could take only a blanket and one extra item they could choose. The item already expressed a lot about themselves. A notebook and tabaco.
On the 4th September 2005 they returned to Ghent and immediately entered a theatre to share their experiences with the public. A doentary was released a couple of weeks later.
Why this experiment?
"We wanted to challenge ourselves and hoped to learn more about who we are. If our desires decide our identity, then we want to know which desires belong to us and which have been imposed by the time spirit."
